Sarah Palin for VP???

***Re-posted from my post in June in light of today's rumors.***

Ok, so I'm probably still a little late to get on this bandwagon compared to people in Alaska, but on the whole I'm not too far behind the majority of the country on this one...at least I don't think I am. And although I don't know everything I would like to know about Gov. Palin, from everything I have read so far she sounds like a solid conservative with a good family and some really logical thinking on issues that could be pivotal in the upcoming presidential campaign, such as ANWR (she supports drilling there for oil). While many folks fear that drilling anywhere in the world will kill all of the little critters out there and cause global calamities that we shudder to think about, Gov. Palin has actually seen ANWR up close and personal. And she knows that with safe and environmentally sound drilling practices ANWR could be a boon to the US economy and a large move towards a semblance of energy independence.

Anyways, I started to post this last night but was having trouble succinctly putting into words why I would support her as a choice for the VP slot with John McCain. Thankfully, I read the Corner at National Review Online today and saw this post with a good email in it. I know, terrible hearsay violations are about to be committed, but get over it. It's a really good, short email.

For Newt, Wouldn't This Be the Next Best Thing to Being President? [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

An e-mail:

McCain should flip-flop on ANWR by claiming while meeting with Gov. Palin of Alaska she informed him of the issue at hand in detail(with facts he was ‘previously unaware of or misinformed on’) and combined with Americans now hurting at the ‘pump’ he now sees he should support drilling, blah, blah. Frame it around Energy Independence, make it a national security issue as well as economic and then make sure to include that we can still seek alternative sources while drilling domestically at the same time, etc……this issue has legs and there is nothing the Democrats can do to counter it. Sure it would be a flip-flop but it wouldn’t matter since on this issue the moderates are flip-flopping on it also, it’s a populist issue.

Then he should nominate Palin as his VP, and together they adopt Newts “Drill Here, Drill Now…” campaign, her having ‘absolute moral authority’ on the matter being the popular Gov. from Alaska. Plus of course she is an evangelical Christian, a woman(target Hillary supporters), pro-life and has solid limited govt. credentials…..she has all the positives except for not being from a purple state, but I think she makes up for that.

Seems like a No-Brainer to me………if McCain would like to actually be President and Commander in Chief.

I must say...I agree. I'm open to changing my mind of course as I learn more about her, but right now she sounds like a pretty good selection to me.

Obama's Real Abortion Problem

So today Barack said the following in Cincinnati:

"It starts with teaching our daughters to never allow images on television to tell them what they are worth," he said, "and teaching our sons to treat women with respect, and to realize that responsibility does not end at conception; that what makes them men is not the ability to have a child but the courage to raise one."
Why does he mention conception? Clearly, the implication that Obama is making is that life begins at conception, otherwise why would he care if men are responsible at that point? This brings up two points, both of which paint Obama as some kind of moral black hole. (Uh oh, a racist scientific term!!!)

One, is that Obama thinks it is ok to kill babies. While many pro-abortion folks support abortion because in part they say life doesn't begin at conception ("it's only a clump of cells"), Obama clearly does not believe this. He thinks black males must be responsible at the point of conception, thereby saying that they must be responsible at conception for their childred...A.K.A. actual human beings. So in his support of abortion of nearly every type, he must support the murder of children.

Two, is that Obama thinks it is ok to put politics ahead of people's lives. If he does think that life begins at conception and doesn't really support abortion, but only does it politically, is that any better than option one? While I disagree with pro-abortion people who say it's only clumps of cells at conception, at least they in their minds are not advocating murder for political purposes alone. They really believe in their cause. Obama, under this scenario, would be quite the opposite. Frankly, this might be the worse of the two option.

Either way though, neither option that Barack has to fit in based on his statements is very flattering. Obama either believes in killing kids or is willing to have kids killed for political gain. And that is Barack's real abortion problem...just listen to his own words when talking about black fathers. If only some of the national media would pick up on this (and John McCain!!!!).

What a proud American???

At least Michelle Obama had the decency to finally be proud of America for the first time in her adult life recently. Barack is just embarrassed by us because we speak English and don't know various foreign languages. Sorry we embarrass you sir, but we can't all hang out with the intellectual giants/terrorists that you hang out with..and some of are happy just speaking English.

Questions for Barack

So today he was giving a press conference and some interesting nuggets came out. A couple that stood out to me:

1. Gun ownership.

Said he favored the rights to own guns, but also supported the ability of localities to put bans in place to keep guns from kids and "gangbangers". Will he profile for "gangbangers"? Does he favor racial profiling? If not, what kind of profiling will find the "gangbangers"? Will he take guns from anyone with any type of criminal record? Felons are already barred from having guns, so who additionally will he take guns from? And if he will take away gun rights, what other fundamental rights is he willing to remove from citizens?

2. Kennedy v. Louisiana

By now you have heard about this case...if not then go and look it up. Barack said the court got it wrong, and that he would favor the death penalty in the case of a raped 6 or 8 year old under certain conditions. What are those conditions? What about a 12 year old, which was the case before the court? Are the types of judges who said that the death penalty could not be used in this case the types you would put on the bench...or would you put judges in the mold of the dissenters on the bench? If not, then do you expect to get different results from your judges?

BREAKING NEWS!!!!! Al Gore Still a Hypocrite

Shocking, I know. But true. One year after folks in Tennessee did some digging and found out that Gore used more electricity for his home than even the sun can produce, he promised to make changes to live up to the standards he wants to hold everyone else to. So how'd he do?

In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

“A man’s commitment to his beliefs is best measured by what he does behind the closed doors of his own home,” said Drew Johnson, President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research. “Al Gore is a hypocrite and a fraud when it comes to his commitment to the environment, judging by his home energy consumption.”

In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.
You don't say. The press release gets even better though.

In the wake of becoming the most well-known global warming alarmist, Gore won an Oscar, a Grammy and the Nobel Peace Prize. In addition, Gore saw his personal wealth increase by an estimated $100 million thanks largely to speaking fees and investments related to global warming hysteria.

“Actions speak louder than words, and Gore’s actions prove that he views climate change not as a serious problem, but as a money-making opportunity,” Johnson said. “Gore is exploiting the public’s concern about the environment to line his pockets and enhance his profile.”

The Tennessee Center for Policy Research, a Nashville-based free market think tank and watchdog organization, obtained information about Gore’s home energy use through a public records request to the Nashville Electric Service.
Ouch. Al Gore, the world's #1 hypocrite. And here is some video that has a good Gore moment on it.

Media Wrong on Charlie Crist

By now you have probably seen or heard that John McCain has proposed ending the 27-year old federal moratorium on offshore drilling, leaving the decision to drill or not drill in the hands of the states. Makes perfect sense and would help the country take the approach to energy independence that I think is the obviously correct choice to make...slowly wean ourselves off of foreign oil while we create new energy sources to eventually take over. Of course, Obama is against it (darn free markets and states rights) and according to the AP Florida's Republican Governor Charlie Crist doesn't think it can be done safely with enough environmental protection. I guess since a Republican governor might think it's not wise then it can't be a good idea, right? Here's what the AP said in their story at 1:05 today:

McCain said environmental controls were strong enough to permit safe offshore exploration, although the Republican governors of Florida and California -- both McCain supporters -- dispute this.

Unfortunately, the AP doesn't know what it is talking about. Because at least by YESTERDAY Governor Crist reversed positions and said he would no longer be opposed to lifting the offshore drilling ban. From last night on a Tampa blog.

Florida Gov. Charlie Crist tells Buzz that he loves Sen. John McCain's idea to lift the federal moratorium on off-shore drilling and let individual states decide whether to allow oil and gas exploration. He also said he wouldn't rule out letting Florida opt to drill off-shore.

"Florida has one of the most pristine environments on the planet, and I'm committed to protecting it," Crist told the St. Petersburg Times this evening. "But we also need to be pragmatic. We need to protect Florida and America's economy, and I look forward to the discussion."

Whether he'd support a decision by the Florida Legislature to drill depends on "how far (from shore), how safe, how protective of our environment it would be – there’s many contingencies that would have to go into it," he said.

"It’s the last thing in the world I’d like to do, but I also understand what people are paying at the pump, and I understand the drag it is on our economy," Crist said. "Something has to be done in a responsible, pragmatic way."

Since 1982, a congressional moratorium renewed each year has closed most of the U.S. coastline to drilling, with the exception of waters off Alaska and in the western and central Gulf of Mexico. A presidential moratorium enacted by George H.W. Bush in 1990 also prohibits drilling.

The federal Minerals Management Service estimates that 86-billion barrels of oil and 430 cubic feet of natural gas lie in undiscovered reserves off the U.S. coast, though the agency could not say how much of it is now off-limits.

McCain on Tuesday will outline a plan for lifting the moratoria as part of a broader energy policy that also focuses on finding renewable and alternative energy sources.

Hmmmm. Way to be on top of your game Associated Press. Oh, and the Washington Post missed this too.

They're So Offended

This first clip is the now infamous Fox News segment that has the lefty blogs going nuts and the Obama campaign proclaiming everyone from Rush Limbaugh to Santa Clause racists, fascists, nazis, dog kickers, etc. Granted, Fox News has a moron writing graphics for them and this was unprofessional on a story about a presidential candidates wife...but spare me the racism shtick.

Aww, but there is always that other side of the story, now isn't there. Here is audio of Michelle Obama after Senator Obama won his senate seat. Is that a "baby daddy" that I hear?

Again, Fox was unprofessional with their writing. No ifs, ands or buts about it. But saying this is evidence of racism and trying to attach it to anyone that opposes Obama is only further going to alienate voters and lead to more partisan division. It's much more likely that some of the folks have heard Mrs. Obama often say baby daddy and were having some innocent, though childish, fun at her expense. I sincerely "hope" that Obama has the "audacity" to "change" his campaign's rhetoric soon.

Good Site, Quick Post

Might want to stop and check out rightyblogs.com at some point for a good starting point at conservative Kentucky blogs. They've got a good collection of sites to choose from and do a good job of keeping you up to date on blogs from all over the country. It's kind of like a DrudgeReport for local blogs.

Anyways, a quick hello to readers coming from their site and stay tuned for a more substantive post either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
